Teaching

Catherine teaches literature and creative writing for all ages. Please get in touch via the email above to enquire about prices and times for school visits, workshops, and tutoring.

Catherine visits primary schools, secondary schools, and festivals to perform and lead writing and poetry study activities. She will happily tailor activities to suit your syllabus.

She loves organising workshops for writers so we can learn from each other. She leads the ZigZag Picture Book editing group (linked to the Poetry Society’s ZigZag Stanza) and chairs the Pelican Poets and Writers at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.

Catherine offers one-to-one weekly tutoring online for students sitting GCSEs and A-levels, as well as ongoing support for students with dyslexia and other SEND. For younger students sitting 11+ entrance exams, she teaches English, Maths and Reasoning.

“The kids settled right down – I thought you must have trained as a teacher! The focused, total silence as they wrote their utopias was amazing.”

Mr Armstrong, year 5 teacher

Blakeney, organiser of the Linton Children’s Book Festival

“I am so grateful for your amazing lessons as they expanded my creativity and brought me to my top school. They were so much fun and made that long, lonely lockdown much more bearable.”

Lara, year 6

“Thanks to you I am in a far better headspace going into my English Language exam tomorrow.”

Isabella, year 11

“Even when I was sitting exams I could hear your voice in my head helping me through the questions step by step.”
